Environmental Hazard: UNILORIN road littered with refuse

Date: 2019-10-16

The middle of the popular Tanke road, along the University of Ilorin in Kwara state has become a temporary refuse dump site. Correspondent Ibrahim Alege reports that residents are to blame for the eyesore that also pose grave health risks

Tanke road is the major dual carriage way that leads to the University of Ilorin. The area is populated majorly by students and supposed enlightened people. But there environment leaves much to be desired.

The road is littered with refuse with the attendant rancid stench and this is having negative impact on the health of some residents

The development generated a heated argument between residents and the state waste management consultant.

Even after parking the refuse, there is no assurance that residents will still not litter the road as there is no official designated refuse collection centre at Tanke.
