Date: 2019-02-14

Police in Kwara State yesterday vowed to deal decisively with potential troublemakers hatching plot to disrupt the forthcoming general elections in the state.

The force said any thug caught for polls disruption would be doing so at his own peril.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, gave the warning in Ilorin today while receiving the state governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Comrade Issa Aremu, who paid him a courtesy visit.

Aremu was at the state headquarters of the state police command in company of leaders and members of his party.

However, the police commissioner said the force would not condone thuggery before and on the day of the elections.

Egbetokun expressed the readiness of the police to provide a level playing ground for parties and contestants in the polls.

Earlier, the state labour party gubernatorial candidate assured that members of his party had been admonished on the need to be peaceful and orderly during the elections.

Aremu challenged the police to ensure that the polls were adequately secured so as to reflect the wishes of the people.
