Football: Sanni Want's the Kwara Job

Date: 2012-09-12

Kwara United manager in the out gone season, Tunde Sani has reinstated his interest to return to the side hot job.

After the 2011/2012 NPL season ended last Friday, management of the side relieved the coaches of their jobs and asked interested ones to re-apply.

Sanni guided the Afonja Warriors to a respectable sixth finish on 52 points.

The former Kwara United player said he believes his good work will stand him out to retain his position.

"We, the coaches, have been asked to re-apply by the management if we so wished and wait for their response.

"I learnt that's the practice there for coaches while the players would be asked to go home to allow the management time to come up with list of those to be retained or dropped.

"Of course, I'll definitely re-apply and hope I'll be considered once again for the chief coach position.

"I still have a soft spot for the team and would want to go back there to continue with the programme I started.

"I believe my good work as a former player and coach will give me the edge.

"I think I can raise a strong squad that would challenge for titles next season.

"But now I'm a free agent, if I'm retained, fine, if not I look for elsewhere for greener pasture," he told supersport.com.

The players were on Monday given a two-week break to resume on September 24 when it is reckoned the management would have decided on the players' fate and perhaps, the coaches, too.
