Kwara South Councillors' Forum supports Ali Ahmad's guber ambition

Kwara South Councillors' Forum has throw their weight behind the aspiration of the State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad who is vying to get the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) guber ticket at the governorship election in 2019.

The forum which was led by its Chairman, Hon. Kayode Adeniyi Eleyele expressed their solidarity and demonstrated their support towards ensuring that the Speaker clinch the ticket at the forthcoming PDP primaries.

Eleyele explained further that the forum believed in Ahmad's astuteness and leadership qualities, adding that he is very matured, experienced and have the interest of the masses at heart.

He noted that as a legislature, Ali Ahmad has performed excellently while at the National Assembly and equally possessed unrivalled record as Speaker of the 8th Legislature through various laws that have direct impact on the people.

The chairman added that as a senior colleague at the State Assembly, they belief the Speaker could assist in addressing their various challenges, particularly from their different council if elected to govern the state.

Eleyele stated that all Councillors in Kwara South have resolved to work extensively on their delegates and pledged to deliver the delegates votes in block on the day of primary.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Kwara State Speakers' Forum, Hon. Olalere Quadir Habib stressed that their support for Dr. Ali Ahmad's in realising his ambition is not about getting financial reward but their belief in him.

Habib stressed that having sample the party members and delegates' opinion, the forum is convinced that the Speaker is a popular candidate and peoples choice.

Responding, the Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad appreciated the forum's gesture and pledged not to dissapoint them if given the opportunity as the state next governor.

Ahmad said if elected, his administration would ensure that the present crop of Councillors are the last to suffer, adding that he would chart a way forward for them.

He pledged that his administration would organise sensitisation programmes for the Councillors to ensure they really know the nitty gritty of legislative business.
