Kwara Speaker Tasks Lawmakers on Good Governance

With count down to 2019, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad, has enjoined lawmakers, across the nation, to sustain their avowed commitment to constitutional obligations and the cause of the people, who elected them into office.

The Speaker, gave the advice in Ilorin, while addressing his colleagues, at the floor of the House.

Dr Ahmad explained that politicking should not affect governance, pointing out that democracy could only be meaningful to the people, when lawmakers continue to provide platform for people to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

He enjoined all standing and Ad-Hoc committees of the House, to continue to handle their assignments with zeal and resilience, to ensure that all outstanding matters, were resolved and concluded in good time, to further enhance the well being of the people of the State.

Dr Ahmad emphasised the importance of the legislature in re- invigorating its oversight functions, at this crucial time of the nation's hard won democracy, to further enhance the wellbeing of the people.

The Speaker, expressed delight that the current legislature, under his watch in the State, had provided platform for better performance and assured that the Parliament would not relent,in the task of making government, more responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state, irrespective of ethno- religious and political affiliations.

Dr Ahmad commended the media,management and staff of the House, for their sterling contributions, noting that their performance had made significant impact on the success, of the current legislature in the State.
