Don't Turn Offa into Battleground
A socio-political organisation in Offa Local Government of Kwara State, Offa Majo, has advised members of the Action Congress of Nigeria and their Peoples Democratic Party counterparts against turning Offa LG to a battle ground because of the struggle for the LG's chairmanship.
The group, in a statement on Thursday by its chairman, Alhaji Kanmi Arowosaiye, and secretary, Gbenga Adeniyi, said people should be ready to vote again when KWASIEC orders new election date as directed by the Kwara State Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal.
It added that the local government would be better off if it belonged to the party controlling both the state and Federal Government.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, PDP, Offa Local Government, Mr. Goke Rabiu, has said the party will reclaim the local government from the ACN whenever the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission conducts the election.
Rabiu, in a statement on Thursday, said the reality on the ground would convince the ACN members that the tide had turned against them. He claimed that those variables that ensured ACN's victory were no more available in Offa Local Government Area.
