Group takes free medical outreach to 4 Kwara LGAs

A group, Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Contact Team (ENACT) on Monday started its medical outreach in four LGA in Kwara South Senatorial District to bring healthcare to the grassroots.

Mr Nurudeen Balogun, an engineer and the president of ENACT, said the takeoff of the outreach in Osi Ekiti Local Government Area would bring healthcare nearest to the people in the grassroots.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme has been scheduled to run between May 7 and May 14 in 16 designated towns and locations across the councils.

The outreach was been organised in collaboration with Harmony Community Healthcare Services.

Balogun said the medical outreach was part of the team's corporate social responsibility targeted at the less privilege in the society.

He said after an in depth research, the team discovered that some patients were turning away from hospitals and clinics due to financial constraints. Balogun said the outreach was also being organised based on popular demands from some royal fathers and religious leaders in the concerned communities.

According to him, the medical outreach is intended to complement the already established Igbomina Mobile Clinic to take care of those areas not covered by the clinic.

"Some people find it difficult to present their cases in hospitals and clinics, especially in remote villages and communities as a result of poor finances.

"Even for ailments that will cost as low as N1, 000 to treat or manage. "That is why our team finds it necessary and as part of our responsibility to ensure that healthcare services is within the reach of every category of our people at the grassroots," he said.

Balogun disclosed that the team had also embarked on education intervention scheme across schools in the districts toward improving students overall performance.

"This is aside our water intervention scheme across villages and communities, because we believe that clean water leads to better heath," he said.

He listed some of the medical outreach services as free diagnosis, preventive care, medical tests, eye checkup, and drugs.

Balogun listed the designated centres and communities to include Isapa Obbo-Ayegunle, Idofin, Iloffa, Erin-Ile Ojoku, Railway health centre and Idiogun, among others. (NAN)
