2,000 Kwarans benefit NDE training, empowerment in 2017

Date: 2018-01-26

To alleviate the sufferings and poverty ratio among citizens of Nigeria, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) disclosed it trained about 2,000 job seekers in 2017 in Kwara State.

This was made known yesterday by the Kwara State Coordinator of NDE, Adeyemo Gabriel while fielding questions from our correspondent in Ilorin

Gabriel stated further that the NDE trained and empowered 76,400 unemployed youths across the country in the out gone year.

The beneficiaries were trained in cosmetology, soap making, ICT, air freshener, body cream and disinfectants.

He added some youths were tutored in Solar Energy scheme which involves huge investment.

"In the solar energy scheme, if we look at the situation of electricity generation and distribution in Nigeria, you will agree with me that a lot of investment and empowerment is required in that sector. We designed the scheme so that the unemployed can be trained in the art of using solar energy to generate electricity.

"It is specially designed for graduates of Science and Engineering who can quickly assimilate the training on the field. 35 trainees benefited from the scheme, last year," he said.

The NDE boss stated that 15 others benefited soft loans of Rural Agricultural Development Training Scheme to start their own businesses depending on budgetary allocation from the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, the agency, last week, completed the training of 1,400 youths across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State with another 2,000 unemployed to be tutored on Basic National Open Apprenticeship (B-NOAS) in cosmetology, soap making, air freshener, body cream disinfectant and ICT.
