SPEECH DELIVERED BY Hon Princess Olufunke Adedoyin at the commissioning of Olomu Way, Omuaran

Date: 2017-09-04

*PROTOCOLS*

It is indeed with a heart full of joy & gratitude to the most high God, the Alpha & Omega, Our Lord Jesus, the author & finisher of our faith, who has made us see this monumental event, that I welcome you all to this August occasion-the commissioning and opening for use of the Olomu/Ago Oru/Court Road.

I particularly welcome our leader, and shining star, my support, my encourager and listening ear, H.E. the indefatigable President of the Senate of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Bukola Saraki CON who very kindly spearheaded the commisioning of this project.

I also owe an immense debt of gratitude to H.E. our dynamic and able Governor, the Maigida NKWARA, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, for his support at all times and for kindly consenting to personally commission this Zonal intervention Project, you are most welcome My Governor.

I welcome our Royal fathers, the leadership of our great party-the APC; my Honorable colleagues from both houses of the National Assembly, the State House of Assembly, the leadership of the Nigeria Army, our esteemed invited guests and members of the press; as well as all of the people who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this project, as well as the commissioning, a reality.

*I welcome you all!! My heart is full, I am so grateful.*

In the course of my electioneering campaign, I had the privilege to traverse the length and breadth of my Federal Constituency, touring all 42 wards. This gave me the opportunity to see and listen to the desires of our people. Our constituency is mainly rural with long distances between the towns and localities.

Indeed, throughout our campaigns, the people were most insistent on the following issues-provision of Roads, supply of potable water and Assistance towards growing their businesses-which are mainly centered around agriculture and trading.

While we acknowledge the immense efforts made by the State government in meeting the yearnings of the people, we recognize that each tier of the government has a role to play, and I resolved to do my part, to fulfil my calling and to build on the legacy of giving back to our people, started by and very dear to the heart of my father, Prince Dr. Samuel Adedoyin OFR, popularly known as SAAMU Agbamu, an illustrious son of Igbomina/Ekiti land who has played a leading role in the economic development of our area and the State in general.

We therefore promised, that with Gods permission, we would focus on what I called the 3 cardinal programs.

*1.? Provision of Roads*

*2. Water Supply*

*3. Micro-Credit to support the growth of Small Businesses and Agro-Allied Enterprises*

My first priority was to pressurize the Federal Ministry of Works on the Ganmo-Omu-Aran-Egbe Road, which I'm happy to remind us all, has now been approved by the Federal Executive Council as a continuation of the Kogi State road which was to end Egbe, it has now been extended to conclude in Ganmo.

As recently as Friday, the Hon. Minister of Works assured me that as soon as money was released to the Ministry, the works, which has started in Kogi State & Ganmo area would be vigorously accelerated.

At the constituency level we used a number of criteria to identify roads critical to the facilitation of movement of goods, services and people; and which would connect our wards & LGAs together.

We identified 5 such roads, and domiciled my Zonal Intervention Project funds with the Nigerian Army for construction of roads in each of our LGAs. We did not receive any ZIP funds in 2015, the year we assumed office, the ZIP for 2016 was committed 100% to construction of this road.

The First is this one- which cuts across the 3 wards of Omu-Aran, the Headquarters of my Federal Constituency and which would serve as an arterial road to connect the road which links Oke-Ero & Ekiti LGA.

*-?On Water:-* It is my firm commitment to construct boreholes of various types in every single 330 polling booths of my constituency. To facilitate the execution of this project, I took a loan to acquire a drilling machine and its supporting vehicle, which are now parked at our constituency office, Owolewa House, Omuaran.

We commenced drilling in a few locations, but due to the rainy season, we have temporarily stopped. As soon as the rains stop we will continue.

*-?On Support for Economic Development:-* Our SDGs funds have been domiciled in SMEDAN for the purchase of tractors & fertilizer.

We have also developed a micro-credit program.

*-?Micro-Credit:-* All necessary paper work for the programme have been concluded. We are working with some financial institutions within the constituency to facilitate the implementation of the scheme. Although I am aware of the discordant tunes that have greeted this program, We will continue to consult and strategise to meet the aspirations of our party members & voters.

This list is not exhaustive, I have merely confined this address to the Zonal Intervention funds.

Permit me to use this occasion to express my immense gratitude to *H.E. Dr. Bukola Saraki CON,* whose support and encouragement has been total & unflinching, and who Inquired periodically about the progress of the project and personally intervened when the issue of retirement of 2015 ZIP Funds became contentious, and as I did not receive a kobo for that entire year, he had to intervene in facilitating the release of 2016 ZIP funds, which is what has resulted in this road which we are commissioning today!

I am eternally grateful to him and the entire leadership of the party in Kwara State.

*It really is good here!!!*

I must also recognize & appreciate the Nigerian Army high command, particularly the Chief of Army Staff *(COAS) Lt. Gen Tukur Yusuf Burata and Gen. O.O. Adeleke* of the Nigerian Army Engineers who made the Corp available for the execution of this project.

They have indeed gone above & beyond the call of duty-exceeding all my highest expectations, & delivering a world class project; using direct labour.

I appreciate the Olomu, Chiefs and people of Omu-Aran for their hospitality to the Army crew, as well as for their cooperation towards making this project a reality.

Allow me to now formally welcome your Excellencies, our Royal Fathers, party Chieftains, my Colleagues, party officials, stakeholders and members; our esteemed invited guests, and members of the public to this historic event.

You are indeed most Welcome, God bless you all for making out time to honour us with your presence.

Finally, I welcome all of my Legislative Aides, my Youth Vanguard, my Progressive Women, and all of you who have contributed in one way or another to make this event memorable. You are all welcome and it's great to see you all.

*It's a new day!*

*Ire o!*

*- Princess O. Adedoyin*
