ROYAL NEWS gathered that workers of the transport corporation had expressed grievances over certain demands that were not met by management of the transport corporation, Kwara Transport Holdings.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday, State secretary of the workers union, comrade Saliu Suleiman and chairman, Comrade Gabriel Afolabi, said that the workers embarked on the strike action when the management failed to their demands on August 4, 2017.

The workers, who commended the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed for approving the sum of N86 million out of which N40 million was released, urged the governor to release remaining amount of money.

The workers' spokespersons also said that the transport corporation should release a sum of N9million for the arrears of cooperative society deductions, adding that the management was yet to remit employers contribution to the National Contributory Pension scheme from inception about a year ago. However, in his reaction to the industrial action by the workers, the group managing director of the Harmony Holdings, Mr Tope Daramola, admitted that the demands of the workers were yet to be met, urging them to show understanding and go back to work.
