The Kwara State House of Assembly has Constituted a 7 man Ad - hoc committee to investigate alleged mismanagement of the state government's Assets by the Harmony Holdings Limited.

The setting up of the Ad - hoc committee was necessitated following a Matter of Urgent Public Importance, raised by a member representing Ilorin North West Constituency, Hon. Abdul Rafiu Abdul Rahman on " Allegation of Misappropriation Relating to Government's Assets by Harmony Holdings ".

The Ad - hoc Committee headed by the House Leader Hon. Hassan Oyeleke, according to the Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, is to verify which funds, property and assets taken over by the Holdings, investigate, all the account books and activities of Harmony Holdings.

The Committee, according to the Speaker, will verify whether the Holdings had justified its existence and identify success story of Company since its inception, if any

It will also look into mismanagement of assets and funds by the Holdings in accordance with the 1999 Constitution.

The Speaker had while constituting the ad - hoc Committee, said the legislators as the representatives of the people, can not close their eyes on issues, which affect the people of the state, pointing out that the ad - hoc committee would conduct thorough investigation and come up with recommendations that would assist the legislature in its resolutions on the matter.

Hon. Abdul Rafiu Abdul Rahman had while raising the Matter, said allegation of mismanagement of government's assets by Harmony Holdings, had dominated the social media and urged the Parliament to wade in, with a view to unravelling the truth about it.

Other members who contributed on the Matter, substantiated the allegation and quoted relevant sections of the 1999 Constitution, which empower the House to intervene, with a view to putting the matter into proper perspective.
