Date: 2017-08-14

Professor Sylvia Malomo, President of Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has said waste have enormous wealth and converting the heaps found around our environment to useful products can significantly reduce unemployment amongst youths in Nigeria.

She said that the theme for the annual conference, The Role of Biochemist in a Recession, is aimed at encouraging people to take to waste recycling to beat poverty and unemployment.

Professor Malomo, who is of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Ilorin, added that 90 percent of waste generated in Nigeria is useful and anyone who goes into waste conversion cannot be idle all year round.
