Group expresses doubt over Kwara LG polls
A group, Kwara Mass Movement, yesterday, advised eligible voters ?in the state not to make the mistake of boycotting the forthcoming local government elections slated for November 4.
The movement said though it had reservations over the credibility of Kwara State Independent Local Government Election Commission (KWSIEC) in conducting a free and credible election, it however, advised eligible voters to participate in all the electoral processes.
Addressing journalists at the inauguration of the movement at the press centre of Kwara State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), spokesman of the group, Barrister Sulyman Jawondo, said the electoral empire must do all it could to prove sceptics wrong.
"KWASIEC under the watch of Dr. Uthman Ajidagba is one of the disasters we have witnessed in recent times.
"The brazen act of 2014 when he compromised the will of the people of Offa Local Government by declaring a different result will haunt him and the commission till eternity.
"We are not oblivious of the fact that KWASIEC is a tool in the hands of the government of the day; it will concoct results for the 193 wards and 16 LGAs in the state on November 4, 2017.
"However, we would encourage eligible voters in the state to participate in every stage of the electoral process with a view to having first-hand information on the notoriety of the Ajidagba-led KWASIEC," the group said.
