2017: KWSG to embark on massive facilities rehabilitation

Towards qualitative public health service delivery, the Kwara State government will embark on massive renovation and equipping of general and cottage hospitals in state.

This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Sulyman Atolagbe Alege during a telephone chat with Pilot Health on Sunday.

According to him, the Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed-led administration will sustain rehabilitation of health facilities to make healthcare service delivery more accessible by Kwarans.

It would be recalled that the state governor had in December last year presented before the state House of Assembly the 2017 appropriation budget estimate of N135,064, 529,461 for consideration and approval, Of the sum, N23,332, 000,690 was alloted to the health sub sector for capital expenditure.

The commissioner further disclosed that there would be recruitment of experts for the Harmony Advanced Diagnostic Centre (HADC), Ilorin to boost service delivery.

"Another area that we will focus this year is the public health with interventions for diseases such as Malaria, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases as well as HIV/AIDS.

"This administration is committed to providing effective and efficient health care service delivery to the citizens of the state. The provision of high quality health care service has remained priority of the state government," he added.

The commissioner enumerated achievement in the sector in the past year to include scale up of the Health Insurance Scheme with the injection of a total sum of one hundred million naira to expand access to efficient and affordable healthcare service delivery in the state.

He also listed the rehabilitation and equipping of Cottage Hospital, Igbaja in readiness as well as Eggi-Oyo-Ipo Primary Healthcare Centre among others.
