Kwara: Allottees of govt's estates to pay outstanding debts
The Kwara State Housing Corporation has called on allottees of all Government owned Estates in (Mandate I, Mandate II, Shonga, Kaiama, Omu-Aran and Offa) to come forward and pay all sums outstanding against them in respect of the houses allocated to them.
This was disclosed in a joint statement by the Special Assistant to the governor on Housing and Urban matter, Alhaji Abiodun Abdulkadir Baraje and the General Manager Kwara Housing Corporation Arch. Salihu Sulaiman, at a meeting on strategies for Housing Development in the State.
They reiterated that allottees stand the risk of foreclosure, forfeiture, revocation, and re-allocation of their houses, being that they had violated the terms of agreement of such sales and allocations.
They further maintained that arrangements had been concluded to publish the names of all debtors and also revoke allocations where necessary.
In his remarks, the General Manager Arch. Salihu Sulaiman confirmed that the present administration was keen at delivering more safe, sustainable and affordable houses across the State.
Arch. Sulaiman enjoined all defaulters to pay their debts to avoid avoidable embarrassment.
Alhaji Biodun Baraje further said debtors were advised to report at the Housing Corporation at Tanke junction Ilorin to confirm the amount outstanding against them with a view to paying up on or before Wednesday 29th February, 2012.
Alhaji Biodun Baraje also said that failure to pay up on the said date would have their names published in the newspapers.
