Kwara athletes charged to redouble efforts
Kwara State athletes that participated in the just concluded Under-16 National Table Tennis League have been charged to buckle up for the challenges ahead and qualify for the World Table Tennis Championship coming up next month in Lagos.
The State Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem, gave the charge on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, while receiving the athletes, the Kwara Falcons Basketball Team and outgoing National Youth Service Corps members that served in the Council.
Coach Kazeem commended the Table Tennis players for their performances, urging them not to relent.
Three Kwara State players have been invited to participate in the final selection for the World Championship holding in Lagos from May 22, 2016.
They are Shukurat Aiyelabegan that came first at the League, Rofiat Jimoh who came second, while Falana Iyanu-Oluwa clinched the fifth position. Turning to the basketball players, Coach Kazeem charged them to keep the clear record and praised the State Government for its moral and financial support to the team.
The Director also commended the outgoing Corps members for their dedication, advising them to be good ambassadors of the Nation.
