The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Haruna Tanbiri Muhammad has frowned at the attitude of some Local Government chairmen, councilors and heads of department of local governments who continue to reside outside their duty stations and even fail to report to work daily as expected.

The Commissioner also warned chairmen against turning their area affices into replacement for the local government secretariats for the purpose of conducting their routine activities and thus depriving their people, especially those of host communities of the local government headquarters, of the benefits of taking government closer to them, which is the essence of local government administration.

Alhaji Muhammad who was at Ilorin, Fufu, Oke-Oyi and Afon, the headquarters of Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Ilorin. East and Asa local government areas, urged the staff he met at the secretariats to be fully committed to their duties, to justify the confidence reposed on them by the government and the citizenry to bring development to the grassroots.

He was accompanied on the impromptu assessment visit by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Sharu Koro Mohammed and directors of the ministry.
