Residents of Baraje 1 Compound, Awodi Area, Gambari Ward 1 in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State have expressed appreciation to a member of the House of Representatives, Dr Abubakar Amuda Kannike over the provision of a motorized borehole.

Some of the residents who spoke with The Herald reporter at the ongoing drilling of the borehole, said they would ever remain grateful to the lawmaker over the project.

A resident, Mrs Rukayat Muhammed said the residents of the community, particularly Baraje 1 compound have been experiencing water scarcity for a long time.

She lamented that residents do go as far as 10 kilometres before they could fetch water. This, she lamented had been creating hardship for residents.

While describing water as life, Mrs Muhammed said Dr Kannike's gesture would go a long way in solving the problem of water scarcity in the area. Another resident, Mrs Biola Kazeem described the lawmaker as a man of his words and a true representative of the people.

Mrs Kazeem noted with delight that thousands of the people would benefit from Dr Kannike's gesture.

She said the borehole would also serve a hospital, mosque and other neighbourhood communities.

She however called for timely completion of the project so that they could start to enjoy the facility as urgent as possible.

Also speaking, Alhaji Yinusa Olore appreciated Dr Kannike for what he described as timely intervention of water problem in the area, and urged the lawmaker to extend his empowerment programme to women of the community.
