The people of Kulende Community of Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State yesterday appealed to the state government to ensure security of life and property in Kulende and its environs as the community modern market is set to be opened by the government.
The people also thanked the state government for investing in Kulende Ultra Modern Market for carrying out renovation exercise on the market.
One of the residents of the area, Mrs Adunola Jobitade said 'there is urgent need for the government to beef up security in the area before commissioning the market.
'As you know when the market is open, it will be a center for all forms of legal businesses. And you cannot rule out criminals from the area. 'But what government can do is to provide adequate security for the traders, their property and those leaving around the market'.
Another resident, Kafayat Umar commended the government for giving the market and the area another good look, but urged government to ensure free flow of traffic along the road.
'Kulende Ultra Modern Market is located along Old Jebba road, a direct link to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital(UITH). And we know what people experienced before the market starts operation.
'So I will appeal to government to provide a lasting solution to the persistent problems of traffic along the road before the commencement of the market'.
