Kwara constitutes task force to check fuel scarcity
The Kwara State Government has put in place a joint task committee made up of the Department of Petroleum Resources, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the government representatives to check acute fuel scarcity within Ilorin metropolis.
The Joint Task committee has therefore begun move to check the ugly trend. The new Operation Controller of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Mr Salvation Philip who led the monitoring team to many filling stations within Ilorin frowned at what he described as under dispensing of fuel.
The DPR boss warned managers of the filling stations against sharp practice and directed immediate correction of their metres or faced the full wrath of government.
He also warned all the filling stations in the state against selling in the night and selling inside jerricans, explaining that the practice would amount to another 'black marketeering'.
Forestall fuel scarcity
Mr Philip appealed to the members of the public to desist from panic buying, saying that the situation at the moment did not warrant such. The DPR boss assured that members of the public would get value for their money and ensure that every litre of Premium Motor Spirit brought to the state got to the end users without hindrances.
Also speaking, the government representative and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Cooperatives, Alhaji Bayo Onimago spoke of government's readiness to forestall fuel scarcity by creating enabling environment to ensure that the public get the product without difficulties.
Alhaji Onimago said the exercise would be a continuous exercise in order to put an end to difficulties experienced by end users in the process of getting the product.
