The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, Alhaji Nasiru Aliyu Al-hassan, has described the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed; Senator Bukola Saraki and the immediate past acting National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, as heroes of democracy.

"On the occasion of democracy day, (May, 29) we cannot but pay tribute to these illustrious sons of Kwara State for keeping the spirit of political emancipation in the country in general and Kwara State in particular," Al-hassan remarked.

He added, "The sacrifices that these compatriots have made to enthrone democratic enterprise more seriously and with seal vigilance.

"Democracy day should he an opportunity to appreciate our heroes who through thick and bend exhibit patriotism, commitment and resilience in making sure those dividends of democracy and qualitative representation of our people is made possible."

The PDP chairman stressed that democracy is not only ahniit elections, but also about level of popular participation in daily governance.

Al hassan, who noted that democracy also involved individual and group freedom and liberties, commended the present administration in the council area for giving people sense of belongings and as well bringing dividends of democracy to their doorsteps.
