Kwara to witness massive infrastructural development - Akorede
Kwara State is to witness massive infrastructural development with the revenue drive of the state government under the leadership of Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed. Under the new dispensation, the state government is to construct comprehensive water work projects in Okuta Baruten Local Government, Malete, Moro Local Government and in Oyun while industrial clusters are to be developed in Offa, Malete and Patigi to create room for inventors wishing to establish industries in the state to do so without much ado.
Speaking in an interactive session with The Herald weekend, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Media, Dr. Muideen Akorede who was at the corporate headquarters of The Herald along with the Chief Press Secretary, Oba Abdulwahab, said Kwara of 2019 would be different from Kwara of today in terms of infrastructural development and the well-being of Kwarans in the scheme of things.
He however stressed the need for citizens to pay their taxes appropriately to the relevant authority to help government move the state to the next level. The SSA media said the state government had used its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to pay off bonds taken for the state's development under which five General Hospitals were reconstructed, renovated and upgraded to world class for the benefit of Kwarans among others.
On the single revenue account introduced for the state's tertiary institutions and revenue-yielding Parastatals, Dr. Akorede said it was not meant to take over the running of the finances of the affected institutions and corporations but to help the state government project effective budgets for those concerned and to enable them meet their operational needs including staff welfare. On The Herald, he said government was taking a holistic look into its problems, with a view to equipping it adequately to stand the test of time without having to rely on subvention from government.
Both the SSA Media and the CPS commended The Herald for doing the needful in projecting government policies and programmes to the people and urged it to continue with the good work.
