Date: 2015-07-29

Wife of the President of the Senate, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, was today commended by former British High Commissioner Sir Richard Gozney for the achievements of her Foundation, the Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WFA), in the areas of health, social infrastructure and education just as he pledged to maintain a continuous partnership with the foundation.

Speaking following the meeting with Mrs Saraki, he noted that he had left Nigeria about 10 years ago but has returned to work alongside government institutions, NGOs and civil society to develop and deliver new empowerment programmes. He commended the empowerment work undertaken by WBFA, globally addressing issues such as maternal and child health.

Speaking as she received the former British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Sir. Richard Gozney, and his team in Abuja, Mrs. Saraki welcomed his return to Nigeria, saying:"I truly welcome Sir Richard's commitment to Nigeria and his continuing interest in seeing our country and our people prosper. Our country is blessed with abundant resources. We need to truly harness these God-given opportunities for the betterment of all. In particular to meet the forthcoming UN Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we must develop the skills and capacity among women and our young people to build a stronger future for Nigeria. I welcome Sir Richard's vision to therefore create a new strategic programme in this regard and look forward to my foundation, the Wellbeing Foundation, partnering with Sir Richard over the next few years."
