Kwara Police Command urges suspected thugs to surrender ammunitions

Date: 2015-05-18

The Kwara Police Command in its bid to rid the state of crimes, has called on suspected thugs to surrender their ammunitions so as to avoid arrest and prosecution.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Ajayi Okasanmi, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Monday.

Okasanmi said that it was illegal for any youth or thug to possess firearms and dangerous weapons.

He said anybody caught with such items would be prosecuted according to the law.

The police spokesman said that the joint security operations in the state had succeeded in restoring normalcy to the areas affected by the recent fracas in some parts of Ilorin.

He dismissed allegations that some innocent individuals were being arrested as suspects in the ongoing clampdown on some of the suspected thugs that unleashed mayhem on Ilorin recently as false.

According to Okasanmi, all innocent people arrested in connection with the incident were released after thorough investigation. (NAN)
