An Ilorin-based Public Affairs analyst, Alhaji Abdulkareem Olola Kasum has mourned the death of Senator Uche Chukwumerije, describing him as a socially-inclined Senator who fought for the emancipation of the masses.

Kasum, a veteran politician, said Chukwumerije had been fighting for the common man right from his days as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the defunct Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) founded by late Aminu Kano.

He said "I was the Kwara State Governorship candidate of PRP in 1979. Chukwumerije would be remembered for his fearless contributions in the Senate and highly intellectual and forthright discourse in nation affairs.

"I pray the Almighty God to grant the deceased family, the Senate, the entire Nigerians and the masses the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss."
