'Card Reader Will Give Elections Credibility'

Date: 2015-03-31

Despite the challenges experienced with the use of card reading machines for the elections, Director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Organisation in Kwara State, Barr. Razak Atunwa yesterday described the card reader as a good innovation.

He opined that the machine will ensure the credibility of the nation's electoral process.

Atunwa who spoke with journalists in Ilorin, said if not for the use of card reader, the defeat suffered by some top government officials in Saturday's election wouldn't have been possible.

He said those who faulted the card reader innovation were doing so because the innovation denied them the opportunity of rigging the presidential and National Assembly election.

Atunwa who is the Speaker of the state House of Assembly and APC candidate for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, expressed confidence that the APC "will have a clean sweep" by the time the election results are officially released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He justified the use of the card reader in the election, saying contrary to the view of some people, the device will eliminate "corrupt practices and ensure one man one vote".

He said "politics is about the people" and that those who have lost elections in their homes are "bound to loose because they are not doing what they are supposed to do",by connecting to the people.
