Kwara Records N2.3 Billion Shortfall in Revenue

Date: 2015-03-04

The Kwara State government said it recorded a shortfall of N2.3billion in the February allocation.

The state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Demola Banu, however, said despite the shortfall and delay in the disbursement of the statutory monthly allocation from the Federation Account, the state was able to pay workers' salaries.

Speaking with newsmen, the commissioner said government is sensitive to workers' plight, assuring that the state would continue to pay attention to the welfare of workers and pensioners.

He said: "The state government will continue to strive hard to pay salaries on or before 25th of every month as promised by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, but I want to tell you that some states including PDP states cannot meet their financial obligations due to shortfall from the Federation Account. Some states are indebted to their civil servants and pensioners for many months, while Kwara has been striving hard to ensure prompt payment of salaries both at the state and local government levels .This shortfall in allocation is affecting all 36 states of the country."
