Stop dragging Emir's name into politics, group warns politicians
The group specifically asked some politicians allegedly found to be using Emir of Ilorin's name as a political subterfuge to henceforth desist.
This was contained in a communique issued and signed by the Chairman and Public Relations Officer of the association, Alhaji Babatunde Salau and Mohammed Uthman Jagunma, at the end of a meeting of the association held in Ilorin.
It urged politicians to accord the traditional rulers, particularly the Emir of Ilorin the required honour during their campaign.
The association said the call became imperative so as not to attach the revered traditional institution with any political parties.
It also admonished the youth to shun political thuggery before, during and after the general elections.
The association also pleaded with sachet water producers and retailers to reverse the price of pure water to N5 with a view to making it affordable for the masses.
The communique partly reads, "We urge all political parties and politicians to accord the adequate required honour and sanctity to the traditional rulers, particularly the Emir of Ilorin during their political campaign.
"This association will frown at any political party who willingly disregard this call. This is because the Emir is not to be attached with any political party, rather a father to all political parties and politicians".
