2015: Youth disown Kwara PDP guber candidate
Youths of Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have given reasons they would not go along with the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Simeon Ajibola in the 2015 general election.
They made their position known during a town hall meeting with Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The youth of the area, noted that despite the fact that the PDP candidate is from the area he has been inconsequential, irrelevant and of no useful value to the people of the local government area.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, their spokesman and former Speaker, Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Isiaka Iyanda recalled how on several occasions Senator Ajibola had betrayed the confidence reposed in him by the Ekiti people including issuing dud cheques to the people and never redeeming his pledge.
Similarly, the Ekiti Traditional Council has endorsed Governor Ahmed for a second term as the governor of the state in the forthcoming elections.
The Chairman of the traditional council and Olosi of Osi, Oba Salihu Abdulkareem Arowobeku said the developmental initiatives of the AbdulFatah Ahmed administration especially in Ekiti land of the state made it imperative to return Governor Ahmed as the governor of the state.
“The governor has been a benefactor to our people, especially the Community Health Insurance Scheme which has brought qualitative health to our people at a cheaper cost”, the traditional ruler said.
Governor Ahmed, in his remarks, said despite unjustified dwindling allocation from the federation account, Kwara State government will not sack civil servants while ensuring that development initiatives reach every part of the state without political or other extraneous considerations.
“We shall continue to be resourceful, just, prudent and deliver benefits of democracy to all people of our state”, Governor Ahmed promised.
