Yinka Aluko picks form to contest against Saraki

Date: 2014-10-21

A former security aide to Senator Bukola Saraki, Mr. Yinka Aluko, has joined two others, Dr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe and Hajia Bilikisu Gambari, in the race for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for Kwara Central seat.

The seat is currently occupied by Saraki who, from all indications, is planning to contest for the position, having dropped his presidential ambition last week.

Aluko had been an aide to Saraki on security for eight years when he was governor while Oloriegbe and Gambari had ran for the seat under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) respectively in 2011. Saraki's Chief of Staff, Gbenga Makanjuola, however, also joined the race for Kwara South senatorial constituency seat.

Makanjuola, a former member of the House of Representatives indicated interest to represent the senatorial district in 2015 by obtaining the intent form at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Ilorin.

Mokanjuola assured that he would deliver the senatorial district to the APC saying he joined the race to ensure quality representation.

The Kwara South district is currently represented by Senator Simeon Ajibola who is serving a third term and aspiring to be governor under the PDP. Ajibola is also the only federal lawmaker that didn't defect to APC last year.

Speaking with newsmen, Mokanjuola said, "I am ready to deliver Kwara South to APC in the forthcoming election if given the opportunity and also set to perform better than I did as a member of the House of Representatives."
