24 financial institutions for 2014 CBN football tourney

A total of 24 financial institutions in the country have registered for the 2014 edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)'s All Financial Institutions Football tournament.

The CBN Director, Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Muazu while addressing a press conference on Monday in Abuja said the registered financial institutions have been drawn into four groups.

He also said the preliminary matches in Group A will be played in Oshogbo Township Stadium while Group B teams will hold at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Group C teams will lock horns at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu just as Ogbe Stadium, Benin will play host to teams in Group D.

Muazu said the group stage matches will be played between October 2nd and 7th, 2014.

"The quarterfinals matches are to be played in the same designated zones on October 9, 2014 while the Semi-finals will be played in Asaba and Lokoja on October 12, 2014," he added.

According to the CBN spokesman, the final of the competition will be played on 18th October, 2014 in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Muazu said the winning team will get N2m prize money, being the same amount given to the winners of the last edition.

Second placed team will receive N1.5m while the team in the third position is to get N1m. The fourth placed team gets half a million naira.
