Kwara reconstitutes Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved the reconstitution of the Kwara State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy. The reconstitution was made known by the Attorney General ad Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade. He noted that the council's enabling law allows for three years tenure of office for members, which is subject to reappointment for another term only.

Members of the reconstituted Advisory Council are: Barrister Kamaldeen Ajibade, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chairman; Medical Director , Dr. Isiaq Abdul, Member; Christian Religion, Rev C.O.S Fawenu, Member; Prominent Islamic Scholar, Alhaji Imam Abdulrasaq Aduagba, Member and representative of Commissioner of Police, Member.

Others are representative of the Comptroller of Prison, Member; Alhaiji Fatai Abdulrahman, Member and Director of Public Prosecution, Member. The Responsibility of the Advisory Council is to advice the governor on the exercise of the Governor's power of prerogative of mercy in respect of all offences created by law of the state, pursuant to section 212 (1) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), according to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
