KWASU is recording landmark achievements - Chancellor

Date: 2014-07-03

The Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari has said the university has been making steady growth with landmark achievements since its maiden convocation last year.

Gambari remarked that in addition to the 24 programmes given accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2012, all the programmes presented by the College of Agriculture during accreditation exercise in January 2014 were given full accreditation by the NUC.

This was contained in the current edition of KWASU update made available to newsmen.

He said KWASU also passed the pre-accreditation exercise conducted by the Council for the Regulations of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) for the College of Engineering and Technology.

The feat, according to him, complemented the earlier success of the pre-accreditation of the Engineering programmes by the NUC, adding that it is a testimony to the university's determination to uphold its mission of being "...the fulcrum of knowledge-driven society, building human capacities and fostering determination among people through the instrumentality of modern technology."

Gambari said KWASU also recorded landmark achievements through the establishment of undergraduate Research Centre; Resident Life Fellows scheme for First-Class Honours graduates, and Centre for Ilorin Manuscripts and Culture.
