Saraki calls for mass empowerment and mobilisation drives

The Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kwara state, Senator Bukola Saraki has called on political office holders in the state, to redouble their empowerment and mass mobilisation drives to ensure the victory of the party in the 2015 general election.

Senator Saraki, who is the former Governor of Kwara state, made the call at the multi-million naira empowerment programme of a member of the House of Representatives representing Ifelodun, Offa, Oyun Federal Constituency, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim.

He urged all elected and appointed office holders to let the people at the grassroots feel their impacts, saying 'there is no way an election could be won by politicians who distance themselves from the people'.

Senator Saraki therefore called on all political office holders from Kwara state, to empower their people and move closer to them.

He explained that the political structure of the state was still intact, due to the love that exists among the people.

According to him, the people of the state are politically awake and it will be difficult for anyone to take over the state from its existing platform.

Senator Saraki, who represents Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, said the paradigm shift of the state ruling political structure, to the All Progressives Congress was to engineer the change that the people had been seeking.

He stated that the state government alone cannot meet up with the needs of the people, due to its dwindling revenue from the Federation Account, calling on political office holders to complement the state government's effort in spreading the dividends of democracy to all segments of the society.

Senator Saraki applauded the initiator of the empowerment scheme, for giving back to the people in manifold and also urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items.

In his Remarks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, commended Dr Ibrahim for initiating such empowerment scheme as part of measures to give back to his people.

Alhaji Tambuwal who represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Justice, Dr Ahmad, enjoined other political office holders to follow suit and encouraged the beneficiaries to use the items to better their lots.

In his address, the initiator of the event, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim appealed to the beneficiaries to use the items unify APC at all levels.

Dr Ibrahim, who mentioned some of his scorecards within three years, commended the support given to him by people like Senator Saraki, who he described as his inspirational backbone, Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed, Party Stalwarts and members.

Some of the items include, 3 Jeeps to Party Chairmen, 8 cars to party faithful, 100 sets of LED Televisions, 373 units of grinding and sewing machines, 370 units of small generating set, 370 units of professional clippers, 25 units of Deep Freezers, 10,000 copies of exercise books, and various party souvenirs.
