Date: 2013-12-17

The residents said they had been in darkness for nine months without assistance from the government.

They lamented that they live in darkness in spite of their proximity to Ilorin International Airport, even as they appealed to the governor to provide water and primary health facilities to the area.

In a letter to the governor, the Landlords Association of Owode Onirin/ NASFAT area Budo Nuhu, said the installation of 500 KVA transformer would end perennial darkness in the area.

Speaking with National Mirror, one the residents, Mr Abdullahi Olarenwaju said the community lacks basic amenities.

He said: "We are appealing to the governor to provide electricity in the community. We are also requesting for a 500 KVA electric transformer.

We have been in darkness for nine months and it is affecting social and economic activities in the community".

He added that the community had on many occasion written to the governor but no avail.

"We have made effort to reach his the governor to come to our aid but all efforts prove abortive.
