Gov. Ahmed presents Supplementary Budget
According to the governor’s message which was read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Barrister Razak Atunwa, the 2013 Budget is now N96,364,934,805 as against N96, 443,827,389 earlier approved, representing 0.1 percent drop.
Similarly, another governor’s message read by the Speaker, requested the House to approve 2014 to 2015 Medium-Term Fiscal Projection of the state.
The message said this has become necessary to pave way for the preparation of 2014 budget estimate for the state as provided by the provisions of section 121 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and section 15(1) of the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
The governor urged the House to speedily consider and approve the requests.
The Speaker directed Business and Rules Committee of the House to work on the two Governor messages for further legislative action.
Meanwhile, the parliament has commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed over the construction of roads, the benefits of which according to the lawmakers are immeasurable in all ramifications.
The commendation was part of the recommendations of the House Committee on Energy,Works and Transport on a matter of urgent public importance raised by Hon. Abdulkareem Abdulganiyu and a petition titled “Illegal destruction of Church property” written by Celestial Church of Christ, Holy Ghost Parish, Asa-Dam road,Ilorin.
The House also urged the governor to release fund for the payment of the recommended compensation as soon as possible to allow the affected landlords take control of their partly destroyed property.
