Kwara Speaker to council workers', salary issue to be addressed soon ...urges for calm
In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Shuaib Abdulkadir, the Speaker said that both the Executive and Legislature feel their pains and have been looking for several ways the affected workers would be relieved of their agonies.
He stated that several meetings have been held by various stakeholders to address the problem where various things are being considered as permanent solution to the salary crisis.
To achieve this, Ahmad disclosed that an expanded meeting would be convened immediately after Sallah vacation which would include the Executive, Legislature and NUT, NULGE and other stakeholders to permanently fashion out ways to address the salary issue.
Describing the present situation as unfortunate, he said though Kwara was not the only state affected by the issue of constant dropping of allocation from the Federal account but however government has been making efforts to get out of the challenges.
?The Speaker explained that it was after thorough deliberation that government decided to pay some amount of money to the affected workers in order to reduce the effect particularly as Muslims were preparing for Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
He noted that the state government's decision to take over payment of the Junior Secondary School teachers salary was one of several means being deliberated on to reduce salary burden on the local governments.
