Group makes case for Saraki as Senate President
FEDNCZ, in a statement signed on its behalf by Mr Ezekiel Issa and Bamidele Opeloyeru yesterday in Ilorin, paid tributes to the leadership of All Progressives Congress, APC, for zoning the position to the North-Central.
Contending that in consonance with the creed of equality, they believed that while any of the states or and their senators was qualified, FEDNCZ opined the office should rightly be conceded to Kwara State ahead of Benue State this time around.
FEDNCZ, insisted that Benue State has had three shots at the position, while Kwara has never had a taste, adding: “Even though the position belongs to all the six states in the North-Central zone, it should be recalled that Senators Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute took turns successively as Senate President during the Ibrahim Babangida/ Sani Abacha era. And in the past eight years, the position was occupied by Senator David Mark, who is also from Benue.
“Along the same path, Plateau and Nasarawa states took the slot of North-Central zone when Senators Ibrahim Mantu and Salihu Abubakar occupied the office of Deputy Senate President at the threshold of this Fourth Republic.” “All these happened while Kwara State, which also had a claim to these offices waited patiently and supported them all.
It would therefore be appropriate to say that many good turns in favour of others should deserve at least another, now for Kwara State.”
