The commissioner of police in Kwara State, Mr. Salihu Garba yesterday confirmed that political thugs are making use of fire arms to perpetrate violence in the state.

He also announced the recovery of two AK47, two locally made pistol and a Volkswagen gulf by men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) at Gaa Akanbi area, Ilorin, the state capital from some suspects who abandoned their vehicle on sighting the operatives.

He added that one Momoh Ogirima David has also been arrested by his men over illegal possession of fire arm, impersonation and criminal intimidation.

He listed 21 different firearms including 133 pieces of 7.62mm ammunition, three bullet proof vests and one complete set of body protector that were recovered from the suspect.

The police boss also paraded two suspects – AbdulAzeez Isiaka and Amusail Amodu, a Ghanian in connection with a truck laden with illegal firearms of 108, 260 rounds of life cartridges intercepted by policemen of Kosubosu division.

Garba told newsmen at a press conference that the political violence in the state has attracted the attention of the Inspector General of Police, Sulaiman Abba.
