Driver remanded for stealing from his Chinese boss
A 32-year-old driver, Musa Abubakar Audu of Oro Road, off Taiwo Road, Ilorin, who allegedly stole money from his Chinese boss, has been remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin.
The Chinese had on August 13 lodged a complain at ‘A' Division Police Station, Ilorin, that the accused being an employee working with him as a driver stole a cash sum of N508,000 and 400 China Yuan inside a shelf in his house.
The complainant stated further that the accused took the office and house key from where he (complainant) kept it beside the owner's side of the vehicle which was entrusted to him.
Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter stated that the accused committed the offences.
The accused was arraigned on a two- count charge of theft by servant and criminal breach of trust, contrary to Sections 289 and 314 of Penal Code Law.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Mathew Saye, who informed the court that investigation into the matter was yet to be completed, objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand him in prison custody, Ilorin, pending the outcome of the investigation.
The defence counsel, Ibrahim Ejiko prayed the court to admit the accused to bail pending the outcome of the police investigation.
The judge, Mrs. O.A. Adeniyi refused the oral application of the defence and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, until the next adjourned date.
The court adjourned the case to September 4 for further mention.
