The Kwara House of Assembly yesterday adjourned plenary till 20th August, 2013.

The motion for adjournment was moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu AbdulKareem and seconded by Hon.Tope Olayonu representing Ojomu-Balogun constituency.

The Deputy Speaker, Prof. Gana Yissa who presided over the plenary  said the Committees oversight functions will continue during the period of the adjournment.

He directed members of standing Committees to continue with their functions during the recess.

The House had earlier urged the state government to urgently create an alternative route through Georges Quarters  to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) and Kwara state Polytechnic following blockage of Zango road leading to the areas.

The Zango road was blocked yesterday morning according to Hon. Hassan Oyeleke of Essa/Shawo/Igboidun constituency on a matter of urgent public importance following an automobile accident involving a petrol tanker.

Oyeleke said the accident caused obstruction on the road and called on the stakeholders to urgently address the situation.
