A new Sole Administrator has been appointed for Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State. He is Alhaji Babatunde AbdulRaheem, a former Deputy Director of Protocol, Government House, Ilorin and the government Liaison Officer in Lagos.

Alhaji AbdulRaheem replaces former Sole Administrator, Alhaji Gidado Babatunde Bello. It will be recalled that the administration of the former executive of the Local Government Area was dissolved together with that of Offa Local Government Area by the state’s government over the bloody clashes between Offa and Erin- Ile early this year.

Alhaji AdulRaheem has since been sworn-in. In the meantime, people of the state were left guessing yesterday when the Sole Administrator for Oyun was sworn-in and no one was appointed for Offa Local Government Area.

Speaking at the swearing- in ceremony, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed represented by his deputy, Elder Peter Kisra, said the appointment of a new sole administrator was in accordance with the powers conferred on him (the governor) by sections 1,2, sub section 5,6,7, and 8 of the Kwara State Local Government Amendment Law 2006.

He therefore charged the new Sole Administrator to "immediately take full control of the council and take decisive action to reinforce the peace efforts between Offa and Erin-Ile communities through the support of the security agents". The governor added that the new Sole Administrator should make accountability, probity and prudence his watchwords.
