Asadu's killers have murdered sleep, says I-G at Kwara CP's burial

Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar vowed yesterday that the police would get the killers of the Kwara State Police Commissioner,Chinwike Asadu,sooner than later.

Mr.Asadu who was assassinated in Enugu last month was laid to rest yesterday in his Onuiyi home town in Nsukka Local Government area of Enugu State.

In a tribute to the late commissioner, the IG said the police would leave no stone un-turned in tracking down the murderers.

"Although Asadu has been buried today, we shall continue working hard to find his killers. I want to reiterate the commitment of the Nigerian Police that no stone will be left un-turned in our quest to unmask the perpetrators of this crime," he said.

The IGP, who was represented by Deputy Inspector General Kachi Udorji said Asadu's killers should not rejoice as "they have murdered sleep and would never sleep. Sleep shall forever elude you".

He described the late commissioner as "a fine officer and a gentleman", who discharged his duty with characteristic efficiency and speed.

Over 50 catholic priests and clergymen from other Christian denominations conducted the mass preceeding the burial at St.Victor's Catholic Church,Onuiyi.

Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Sunday Onyebuchi led the State Government delegation while Anambra State Deputy Governor, Mr. Emeka Sibedu represented Governor Peter Obi at the event.
