Gov Ahmed Congratulates New President, Nigeria Guild of Editors
The Governor of Kwara State, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has advised the Deputy Managing Director of The Sun Publishing Company, publishers of The Sun titles, and new president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mr Femi Adesina to push further the frontiers of the Guild in the building of qualitative journalistic practice in Nigeria.
Governor Ahmed said this in a congratulatory message to the new President of Nigerian Guild of Editors signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba.
Governor Ahmed said the Nigerian Guild of Editors under the presidency of Mr Femi Adesina should not only continue with the good deeds of his predecessor, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, but work with other stakeholders in the profession to ensure that challantans and quacks have no place in journalism by ensuring that the ideals of journalism are strictly adhered to by practitioners.
“I have no doubt that given the track records of Mr. Femi Adesina as a journalist of quality and columnist per excellence, he is immensely endowed to drive the guild and journalism profession to greater heights.
Governor Ahmed, however, noted that the Femi Adesina presidency of the Guild needed to operate an inclusive policy in order to strengthen the Unity of the Guild.
The Governor promises to collaborate with the Guild and other stakeholders in the media to promote the welfare of its practitioners and accelerate the emergence of a free society where the rights of citizens are not only guaranteed but protected.
