Senator Ashiru Empowers Constituents with Digital Skills, Computers
Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District and Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Lola Ashiru, has trained 60 youths in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and distributed 200 personal computers to beneficiaries across political affiliations in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the senator on Wednesday in Offa, his Senior Legislative Aide, Mr Yunus Alabi, said the training was part of Ashiru's ongoing empowerment initiatives for constituents across the seven local government areas in the district.
Alabi noted that this was the fifth training programme since the senator assumed office and coincided with the Ramadan period, providing accommodation as well as Sahur and Iftar meals for participants from outside Oyun and Offa local government areas.
He added that the beneficiaries included youths of various professions, students, artisans, and small business owners, including fashion designers and traders.
"The programme focused on equipping participants with digital skills to leverage technology for business growth and productivity. It also extended beyond his senatorial district to those who applied online," Alabi said.
In addition to the training and laptops, beneficiaries received transport allowances to facilitate their return home.
Alabi expressed confidence that the initiative would boost socio-economic development in the district by enhancing digital literacy, improving business management, and promoting accountability amongst small-scale entrepreneurs.
Beneficiaries Ajewole Josephine and Balogun Ayodeji commended the senator for the gesture, noting that it would significantly improve their digital skills and support the growth of their businesses.
The senator plans to continue similar programmes in the coming months to reach more constituents.
