Kwara United Secure Vital Away Win in Battle Against Relegation
Relegation-threatened Kwara United of Ilorin recorded an important away win as Matchday 29 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) took centre stage.
The Harmony Boys boosted their survival hopes by defeating hosts Katsina United 2-1.
Flying Antelopes, Rangers International FC, produced the biggest win of the week with a 4-1 demolition of Remo Stars of Ikenne, strengthening their title bid and compounding the relegation fears of the defending champions.
League leaders Rivers United maintained their top spot with a 3-1 victory over Bendel Insurance, whilst another title contender, Abia Warriors, defeated Shooting Stars of Ibadan 2-0 in Aba.
In Jos, coach Gbenga Ogunbote maintained his perfect home record since taking over at Plateau United, guiding the Peace Boys to a commanding 3-0 win over Niger Tornadoes of Minna.
Elsewhere, Enyimba slipped again, losing 2-1 away to Warri Wolves; Kano Pillars edged Barau FC 1-0; Kun Khalifat narrowly beat Bayelsa United 1-0 in Owerri; whilst Nasarawa United secured a slim 1-0 triumph over a resilient Ikorodu City of Lagos.
Wikki Tourists and El-Kanemi Warriors kicked off Matchday 29 on Saturday, with the former defeating the latter 2-1.
With only a handful of matches remaining in the season, these results are expected to significantly impact both the title race and the relegation battle as the league enters a decisive phase.
