Lai Mohammed Postpones Book Donation to Kwara Institutions to Honour Kaiama Attack Victims
A former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has postponed his planned donation of copies of his book to tertiary institutions in Kwara State following the recent killings of residents in the state.
The former minister and professional public relations practitioner made this disclosure in a statement issued by his media office.
In the statement released on Thursday in Abuja, Mohammed explained that the postponement of the event, originally scheduled for next week, was out of respect for the victims of the heinous killings. He stated that a new date for the donation of the book, titled Headlines & Soundbites: Media Moments That Defined an Administration, would be communicated in due course.
He expressed profound condolences to the government and people of Kwara State over the senseless killings. It would be recalled that many innocent residents of Woro and Nuku communities, located in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, were reportedly killed by rampaging terrorists.
The former minister particularly extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear their immense losses and repose to the souls of the departed.
He also commended the affected communities for their courage and steadfastness in the face of intimidation, highlighting their determination not to yield to the reign of terror imposed by the assailants.
Mohammed applauded President Bola Tinubu for his swift intervention in ordering the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area to neutralise the terrorists. He described the action as a testament to the Federal Government's unwavering commitment to protecting innocent Nigerians, not only in Kwara State but across the nation.
The former minister called on the people of Kwara State to continue cooperating with both state and federal authorities in efforts to halt the attacks and restore peace and normalcy to the affected communities.
