Imam Imale, Offa Chief Imam Reveal Governor's Role In Late Sheikh Soliu's Medical Care
The Council of Muslim Organisations (CMO) and several eminent Islamic scholars have formally acknowledged and praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his personal commitment to the welfare of the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, during his final days.
Following the burial of the revered cleric, the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdullahi AbdulHamid, and the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muhideen Salman, revealed that the Governor ensured the late Sheikh received the highest standard of medical attention while he was hospitalised in Abuja.
The CMO, in a condolence message signed by its coordinator, Justice Idris Abdullahi Haroon (rtd), noted that the Governor's swift intervention allowed the late Chief Imam to recuperate fully before his eventual passage on Monday. The council described the Governor's actions as a reflection of "compassion, responsible leadership, and deep respect for religious institutions."
"The Governor's concern for the late Chief Imam during the critical period preceding his death was exemplary," the statement read. "It shows a leader who values the pillars of our community."
Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, who served the Ilorin Emirate for over four decades, was laid to rest in Ilorin on Tuesday. The testimony from the state's top religious leaders has served to quell rumors regarding the cleric's care, highlighting a strong synergy between the current administration and the Emirate's traditional religious leadership.
