Fourth Consecutive Title: Team Kwara Wins 2025 Presidential School Debate Championship
The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), representing "Team Kwara," has emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 Presidential School Debate Championship in the Junior Secondary School category.
This historic victory marks the state's fourth consecutive national championship title, further cementing its status as a powerhouse in Nigerian basic education. Beyond the national stage, the team achieved global acclaim this month by winning the 2025 Asia Parliamentary Debate Championship held in Malaysia, a feat that highlights the international competitiveness of Kwara's public school students.
In a statement released by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Professor Raheem Adaramaja, these sustained successes were attributed to the strategic investments and educational reforms of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Professor Adaramaja noted that "under the Governor's leadership, Kwara State has strengthened teacher capacity, improved learning infrastructure, and institutionalised programmes that promote critical thinking, communication skills, and academic competitiveness at the basic education level."
He emphasised that such an environment has allowed students to flourish not just within Nigeria, but on the global stage as well.
The SUBEB Chairman expressed deep gratitude to the Governor for providing the necessary resources to nurture young talent across the state's three senatorial districts. Highlighting the collaborative effort behind the triumph, he stated, "Kwara SUBEB extends its profound appreciation to His Excellency for creating an enabling environment where learners can excel nationally and internationally.
The Board also commends the dedication of teachers, debate coaches, administrators, and parents whose collective efforts contributed to these historic victories." According to the Board, these dual championships serve as a benchmark for educational development and a testament to the "Kwara Learn" initiative's impact on student performance.
