Kwara Police Release 48 Kidnap Suspects After No Evidence Found in Oke-Ode Arrest
The Kwara State Police Command has released 48 men who were arrested in connection with a suspected kidnapping operation along the Oke-Ode axis in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Command's spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin, the release followed exhaustive technical profiling and background checks, which found no incriminating evidence or criminal affiliations against the individuals.
"Consequently, all the 48 suspects have been duly released this morning," the statement said.
It was disclosed that the arrests were made following credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer, Oke-Ode. Acting on the tip, police operatives and attached vigilantes intercepted a group of men riding in clusters on 14 motorcycles along the Alade-Oreke axis.
During the operation, 43 mobile phones and other personal belongings were recovered.
The Police Command reiterated its commitment to lawful detention and due process, while urging the public to provide accurate information to aid investigations.
"?The suspects underwent detailed criminal intelligence analysis and Profiling. All mobile devices were subjected to digital forensic examination, which included extraction of call records, communication trails, transaction history, and geo-location mapping to establish possible links to kidnapping, banditry, or any other form of organized crime.
"After exhaustive technical profiling and background checks, no incriminating evidence or criminal affiliations were established against the suspects. Consequently, all 48 individuals have been duly released this morning." ?
?The command assured the public that the exercise was carried out with utmost professionalism, respect for human rights, and strict adherence to investigative procedures.
The statement explained that the outcome underscored the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to act swiftly on intelligence while ensuring that innocent citizens are not unjustly criminalized. ?
?The command urged the people of the state to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative by promptly sharing credible information with security agencies, adding that "together, we will continue to safeguard our communities against criminal elements."
